S+R are having their dream destination wedding in a few months at the luxurious Esperanza Resort in Cabo San Lucas. We are so looking forward to their day, and to working with fabulous event coordinator Jenny of Baja Weddings.

A few weeks ago we met the couple in Cabo for their YOU+ME engagement session. Since we'll be staying exclusively at the resort on their wedding day, we wanted to capture the some of the spirit of Cabo during their shoot - and we had a blast!

We started off at a tiny little restaurant outside of town...with some pink grapefruit & mexican tequila! Chris decided on the spot that starting off engagement sessions with tequila shall henceforth be regular procedure :)

The vibrant colours in Los Cabos are a photographer's dream.

I love a bride who wears her red-soled Louboutins in the dusty mexican streets!



Back in Cabo San Lucas, we couldn't resist this red wall.

A panga rental is a great idea for a trip to El Arco, Cabo's famous natural rock arch - it is beautiful!



These two are so in love - I love capturing moments like these!



We arrived on Lover's Beach to perfect, gorgeous, golden light. And had fun playing on the beach, and getting a little (okay, a lot!) wet.

Horseback riding, a sand storm, mucho tequila, and birthday celebrations with great new friends - Ashley & Jason's Los Cabos engagement session is so full of fun memories for us.

Though we'd been in email contact with them for almost a year about their big Indian wedding in Vancouver, we didn't meet Ashley &Jason in person until they decided to make a stop in Cabo en route from their trip to Africa to do their YOU+ME engagement session. Jason told us he was watching for us from the balcony when we walked up, and was relieved to see we "looked normal - not like some weirdo photographers" Whew! :) We were thrilled to find out that not only were they super-stylin' food & travel connoisseurs who were up for anything, they were also completely down-to-earth & real.

It was a lot less comfortable on these horses - well, for me! Ashley & Jason looked totally romantic on their  rides in the surf and sand.

We cooled down with some homemade icecream in San Jose and the first of many margaritas.





Boat ride to an island beach to enjoy the sunset - no, scratch that, a sandstorm! Lots of wind meant Ashley & Jason were forced to snuggle up against the rocks.





After a chilly boat ride back, we celebrated Ashley & Jason's engagement and Chris' birthday at an Argentinian BBQ restaurant with rock'n roll, blood sausages, and a long-haired waiter who liked to philosophize on love & ply us with tequila. Luckily, there's no incriminating photos of the party that ensued :)

There's nothing we love more than a YOU+ME session. Except a YOU+ME session that includes shooting after dark. At a new location as exciting as Capella Pedregal. With a bride wearing a long veil on a windy night.

We had never been to Capella Pedregal resort before, but our couple told us we would love it. They were so right. We were only there for an hour or so but fell in love with the architecture, landscaping, and all the textures and design details. It was the perfect place to create some portraits of the wonderful, happily married couple. Some of our favourites:






After packing it away for months, Chris dug out his tilt-shift lens again for these portraits. I couldn't choose - like them both!




The resort was even more romantic once the sun went down and all the lanterns went on.

To get in and out of the resort, guests go through a dramatic, chandelier-lit 300-metre long passageway carved through the heart of the mountain. Tunnel of love! :)

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico is already a gorgeous place for a wedding - add in the ambiance & architecture of  Esperanza Resort, (awarded Best Hotel, Best Spa, and Best Service for Mexico by Travel & Leisure Magazine) and a vibrant couple, and you have a photographer's dream event!

Jenny from Baja Wedding designed the event impeccably & along with Arianna of Auberge Resorts, they  coordinated an awesome team of vendors: Suzanne Morel for hair &makeup, Cabo Flowers for floral & decor,  Jore Ibarra videography, and David Flores for guitar & band.
