Kyle+LeLoni=Soaring! | Okanagan Wedding Photography

Okanagan Wedding Photography

Some weddings remind you of what it's all really about: love, love, and more love! Throw a lot of fun in there too and a little attitude, and you have the very cool combo that is Kyle & LeLoni.

As a wedding photographer himself (and a finalist for Most Creative Canadian!), Kyle added his personal sense of style to everything - starting with the colour red!

Red-shirted groomsmen & Kyle's cool kicks.

Getting ready for some fun.

SOME FUN!

More jumping as best man Josh shows off his signature move. (Like Kyle, Josh is also a wedding photographer - yup, no pressure or anything!)

The beautiful LeLoni gets ready.

Love this moment with her mom.

Leloni & Kyle chose a simple, and simply beautiful setting for their ceremony. Only blue skies ahead!

So much love & blessings surrounding them.

Married!

Knowing Kyle, we knew we needed to do something different for his bride & groom session.  We had a pretty great time capturing their love for each other here:

Leloni making scrap metal look sexy.

My fav.

Red shoes, red nails, and shades - love it :)

Leloni's gift to her husband & their gifts to each other:

Congratulations guys - it was an amazing day & we can't wait to see where your love & talent takes you next!

Sandy+Sonny=Superlative | Vancouver Wedding Photography

Vancouver Wedding Photographers

Jam-packed full of action, events, colour, traditions, laughter, and of course, Sandy & Sonny's uncontainable LOVE, the couple's wedding was amazing! With a thousand guests and activities stretching over four days, we had the whole C+L team out in full force, including our fabulous associate Sarah, our intrepid assistant Garrett, the always-chill TJ, and led by the inimitable Colin. Thanks, guys!

Sandy & Sonny's big, beautiful album has over a 100 pages so it was super-hard to choose which images to share, but here are just a few of our favourites.

Sonny's wedding day attire.

The ceremonial tying of the turban.

Sandy's sparkle.

And the always sparkling Sandy. She is a photographer's dream, & perfectly captured by TJ:

Sonny arrived at the temple in the traditional way, by horse. Looking very regal, Sonny!

Though tradition dictates the couple shouldn't speak or smile during the ceremony, Sandy & Sonny couldn't hide their happiness. My favourite moment.

The couple left in a vintage car - love this album spread.

Joyous traditions.

A change of outfits and then Colin rocked a quick sunset photo session in family farm's blueberry fields. Another of my favourite album spreads.

A freshly shaven Sonny gets ready for the extravagant reception with his dad, Lucky.

Sandy. As previously mentioned, a photographer's dream :)

Chris knows this is his fav from the wedding & is pretty sure it's actually his favourite image he shot all season.

More sparkle.

More Sandy.

It's so nice to create portraits of a couple in a place that is meaningful to them like their home.

We stopped for some more portraits along the way to the reception.

Lots of gorgeous details.

Now this is a grand entrance!

Party time! Lucky & Sonny tear up the dance floor to Sardara Singh Gill.

More dancing! And look, it's Ujjal, our former premier, partying too :)

We always like to sneak out for some late night portraits. The last spread from their album.

Congratulations, Sandy+Sonny! We can't wait for you to have your super-fantabulous albums!

Brooklynn+Cory=True | Wedding Photography

Kelowna Wedding Photography

True. To each other. And to themselves as a couple. Brooklynn & Cory have a love so genuine & real, not even the wettest storm in Kelowna's history (truly- a recordbreaking 34mm of rain fell on their wedding day!) could dampen their spirits! From the moment they saw each other, they couldn't stop smiling.

The couple love the outdoors and Cory proposed to Brooklynn while they were out camping, so they were determined to endure, or perhaps embrace would be the better word, the soaking wet weather no matter what!

She may be an outdoorsy girl at heart, but Brooklynn has got style. Her gorgeous gown & shoes.

And the gorgeous bride herself.

So beautiful & natural. Brooklynn's makeup by the ever-so-charming-incredibly-talented-Vancouverite Nadia Albano (always our fav mua!).

Cory waiting - for quite a while - in the rain by the Bentley.

Flashing a smile once he finds out Brooklynn is ready.

First Look.

Actually, what could be more romantic than a first look rendezvous in the rain? :)

We thought they'd want to dry off, but after their First Look, Brooklynn & Cory hopped the fence & we all hiked up the hill for some portraits.

Then it was off to the lake. Brooklynn's fabulous family friend/interior designer/wedding planner/style guru/mud-stickiness-tester, the amazing Tara of Red Crayon Design helping the couple down to the water.

A few stops in town before heading to the ceremony.

Chris' image:

And mine:

We couldn't resist this old warehouse.

Meetup with the wedding party!

The rain finally let up when we got to Brooklynn's summer home for the ceremony. Guests were invited to kick off their shoes, put on their flipflops, and grabs some lemonade before making their way down to the backyard & the dock.

Ceremony site.

Love the simple & elegant details of their beach wedding. Especially the vintage desk on the end of the dock for the signing.

"We do!"

This cutie-pie joined in after the ceremony.

More simply elegant decor at the reception at Kelowna's Harvest Golf Club

Love this message in a bottle idea for the guests!

It started out as a regular cake-cutting.....

First Dance.

Congratulations, B+C!

Cornelia+Gabe=More Fun!

Did I mention that Cornelia & Gabe were tons of FUN? :) Check out some of our favs from their YOU+ME session at Playland!

Cotton candy yumminess.

Cotton candy silliness.

C+G break out their signature dance moves:

Ride time!

Love these two shots Mike, one of our fab C+L associate photographers, captured.

No they didn't...

Oh, yes, they did!

Woo-weeeeeeee, Cornelia+Gabe! It was such a blast hanging with you two - we wish you many playful happy fun-filled days to come now that you're mr & mrs!

Cornelia+Gabe=Fun!

Always loving, always laughing - that's the irrepressible Cornelia & Gabe! The couple met in high school and have been on an exciting journey together ever since. Their spirit of adventure infused their wedding day with tons of laughter & fun.

You know it's going to be a great morning when this is what you see on the front steps of the groom's house.

Gabe was ready to rock the day!

The lovely Cornelia gets ready.

Gorgeous!

Some favourites from the church.

Time to celebrate!

Champagne+ buskers= newlyweds dancing on the street!

This wedding party knew how to work it!

Love the colour, love the light!

My fav from the day: Cornelia & Gabe.

Candace+Nick=Destiny

“Love is our true destiny. We do not find the meaning of life by ourselves alone-we find it with another.”

It was clear from when we first met Candace & Nick that they were meant to be together! And their connection felt even stronger on their wedding day. Nick was the consummate gentleman, attentive to and delighting in his bride's every need. And the expression in her eyes each time Candace looked at her new husband was one of pure love.

Perfectly planned by the fabulous Sarah at DreamGroup with a reception at the always-lovely Sutton Place Hotel, the day started off great with a pair of pink, fluffy, Louboutins.

Love the soft pastel palette of the day.

The bride gets ready in her girlhood bedroom.

Stunning!

Dramatic aislewalk.

Nick sees his bride for the first time! Beside him is Justin, Candace's brother, who performed the very personal ceremony for the couple.

Married!

Classic portrait of a classic couple.

Into the park for some more portraits.

Gorgeous details at Sutton Place.

First Dance.

There were so many emotional moments during this wedding; Candace's father had everyone (including me!) holding back tears.

Here he is with the camera he used to photograph Candace when she took her very first step. He saved the old camera precisely for this day, to take another picture of his daughter when she took another pivotal step in her life - getting married.

Creating family history.

Of course, we had to sneak the couple out for some nighttime shots - love this moment they are sharing on the street.

Congrats, Candace + Nick!

Schiffon+Dennis=Irie!

"Don't Worry, Be Happy!" is the mantra in Jamaica, and after a whirlwind adventure that included cancelled flights, swine flu scares, and a literally-last-minute switch of wedding location from Mexico to Jamaica, Schiffon and Dennis finally enjoyed their beautiful day - happily and worry-free.

In fact, they were the most relaxed bride & groom I've ever seen! The couple embodied "IRIE" - Jamaican for being at total peace & harmony with the world. The strength of their love and the love of their friends and family who had to overcome so much to be with them on their wedding was tangible throughout the day. And what a great day it was!

First, the details - simple, fresh and fun.

Beautiful bride!

Chillin' with the girls outside her suite at the Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort.

Dennis & the guys.

When it was looking all but impossible for Canadian guests to get to Mexico, I remember Schiffon's father saying that he would be there for her no matter what, "Nothing can stop me!" he told me on the phone while we tried to figure out travel itineraries. It was so wonderful to see him walk his daughter down the aisle.

What a smile for his bride from the handsome Dennis.

Such an idyllic location.

Married!

Love the joyfulness of these next two :)

And they knew how to work it too - Schiffon strikes a pose.

And Dennis looking oh so GQ.

A little off-camera lighting for some extra drama.

The it was off to play by the ocean. My favourite image of the day.

Beautiful Jamaica.

We caught some gorgeous sunset light on route to the reception.

So much love in the room! And a little rastafarian too :)

First dance.

Congatulations Schiffon + Dennis! We loved being part of your destination wedding adventure!

Becky+Noah=Epic!

This blog post is about the love story of Noah & Becky on the day they vowed to be together forever on the island of Kauai. It was a perfectly beautiful, light-bathed, emotion-filled, love-blessed wedding day...and it was a dream for us to photograph!

Noah and Becky planned everything just right, which is why this blog post could also be a little helpful hint guide on how to make your wedding day totally ROCK!

Tip #1: choose a great location to get ready. Kauai photographer & ultimate host (thanks for having us, D+S!) Dianne Reynolds, generously shared her gorgeous plantation-style home with the couple. That meant Becky and her bridesmaids (all twelve of them!) had lots of room to primp & prep & prettify together and we had lots of options of where to photograph all her details.

Tip #2: No rushing! Leave yourself lots of time to get ready so you can be as calm, serene, and beautiful as Becky was the morning of the big day. And have some time for bridal portraits.

Isn't she stunning?!

What a smile! She's so excited to see her future husband!

Or you could use that extra getting ready time to work out - like Noah :) The guys got ready just a few minutes away from the girls, making it super-easy to shoot everyone in the morning.

Hot groom alert!

Tip #3: consider having a First Look. The moment the bride & groom see each other is always special whether it's at the altar or not, but having a First Look is always so meaningful. It allowed Becky & Noah to have a private confirmation of their love together before the public celebration at the ceremony. And it also means more time for photos together before the wedding which means more time for fun with the guests right after!

I love this image of Noah praying before he's about to see Becky for the first time.

The joy of the moment!

Tip #4: bring your own sun-swatter. Just kidding! But I had to find a way to include this shot of Noah using California Sunbounce's great diffuser (btw, they are lightweight & easy-to-use).

But lighting and weather are things to consider - you can't control them but you can be prepared: parasols for shade if it's sunny, umbrellas for showers, and a nice hotel room for downpours. And if having an outside ceremony, maybe bump it to later in the day when the light is soft & flattering.

Luckily, Noah ordered up a perfect weather day for his wedding.

Tip #5: choose amazing friends & family to be in your wedding party! Ones who are super-helpful, super-fun, super-happy for you & who don't complain even if they have to balance on a rickety fence for a photo!

Tip #6: allocate time for photography. It's one of the biggest investments in the wedding as well as the only thing from the day that lasts forever! So allow for lots of time so we can go to all the cool locations we want to shoot at! If the day is super-busy, consider having a YOU+ME session on another day.

Noah grew up on Kauai & now the beautiful island is California girl Becky's home as well, so we really wanted to create images with a strong sense of place.

These two could not stop smiling at each other - they are so natural & happy together!

My fav of the beautiful Becky.

Chris' fav of the day.

And the most important tip of all: Live your wedding day fully & completely!

When we talked to Noah the day before the wedding, he, like most grooms was a little nervous and a little stressed about the seating arrangement, decor, lighting, and parking logistics...But come morning, all that was forgotten.

Noah and Becky experienced every moment of their day with hearts wide open.

Their ceremony, personalized and performed by Becky's father, was filled with laughter and joy.

I just like how Chris framed this image.

Married!

Now this is what I call an aislewalk - see fun-loving wedding party tip #5 :)

Oh, happy day!

Classic family portraits never go out of style (especially with this kind of scenery).

The couple's reception was simple and fun. First Dance.

Becky & Noah's fathers had everyone's attention with their heartfelt song & speeches.

Noah's sister, surfer extraordinaire Bethany Hamilton, beats out all the ladies for the bouquet. Becky directed the award-winning documentary Heart of a Soul Surfer that tells the incredibly inspiring story of her new sister-in-law Bethany.

Can you say FUN!

And a little romance from the end of the night.

Noah, so glad you sat beside us at that Oahu workshop so many years ago & we were able to document your epic day! Congratulations, Noah + Becky!

Becky+Noah=Epic! YOU+ME Session

Our second photographer couple of the year, the amazing Becky & Noah, are hanging out at our friend & fellow photographer Mike Larson's workshop on Oahu.

I knew they were dying to see a sneak peek so I wanted to put up a few quick shots from their YOU+ME bride & groom session...but I couldn't stop at just a few! So here are our fav 21 :) Their absolutely epic wedding day story coming up soon!

Love...

... is beautiful.

Could there be a more vibrant, happy bride than Becky?

With the help of Noah & Nathan, his best man, we scouted out some awesome locations on Kauai. Loved the textures of this wall and the trees.

Our favorite grove of trees in Kauai.

And our favorite tree on Kauai!

We fell in love with this ranch & had been plotting how to sneak in all week, but luckily Noah knows everyone on Kauai & can sweet-talk his way past any gate!

Stopped in town on the way to the beach.

Cuz it's not Hawaii without some shave ice!

We made it just in time for sunset.

Chris' fav.

My fav.

We almost lost three 5Ds, our radio poppers, and our fearless rock-climbing assistant (thanks Kali!) getting this last shot of the day!

Stay tuned next week for their full wedding day story - it, and their love, is simply beautiful.

Sonny+Sandy=Superlative!

Super-fun, super-styling, super-sweet, super-hot ~ there simply aren't enough adjectives to describe how great Sonny & Sandy are together! Their positive energy is completely contagious & in addition to all the above, they are totally hilarious; I'm pretty sure we've never laughed quite so much on a shoot. These two can barely look at each other without smiling - beautiful, natural smiles that just say 'we are sooooo in love & can't wait to be married!' And we can't wait to be part of their epic 4-day wedding celebration! Some of our fav images from their engagement session.

In Stanley Park a few hours before sunset. Ahh, lovely light.

See? Great smiles.

And lots of laughs.

Sandy, beautiful bride to be.

Sandy, rocking her inner super-model in her Marciano dress & to-die-for Marciano heels (hmm...do you think I could shoot a wedding in those? I covet them!).

Wow - must be something magic in those blueberries on Sandy's family farm.

Love this set.

And rockin the radio-poppers to add a little drama at the end of the night.

Congrats, Sonny+Sandy!
