Becky+Noah=Epic! YOU+ME Session

Our second photographer couple of the year, the amazing Becky & Noah, are hanging out at our friend & fellow photographer Mike Larson's workshop on Oahu.

I knew they were dying to see a sneak peek so I wanted to put up a few quick shots from their YOU+ME bride & groom session...but I couldn't stop at just a few! So here are our fav 21 :) Their absolutely epic wedding day story coming up soon!

Love...

... is beautiful.

Could there be a more vibrant, happy bride than Becky?

With the help of Noah & Nathan, his best man, we scouted out some awesome locations on Kauai. Loved the textures of this wall and the trees.

Our favorite grove of trees in Kauai.

And our favorite tree on Kauai!

We fell in love with this ranch & had been plotting how to sneak in all week, but luckily Noah knows everyone on Kauai & can sweet-talk his way past any gate!

Stopped in town on the way to the beach.

Cuz it's not Hawaii without some shave ice!

We made it just in time for sunset.

Chris' fav.

My fav.

We almost lost three 5Ds, our radio poppers, and our fearless rock-climbing assistant (thanks Kali!) getting this last shot of the day!

Stay tuned next week for their full wedding day story - it, and their love, is simply beautiful.

Sonny+Sandy=Superlative!

Super-fun, super-styling, super-sweet, super-hot ~ there simply aren't enough adjectives to describe how great Sonny & Sandy are together! Their positive energy is completely contagious & in addition to all the above, they are totally hilarious; I'm pretty sure we've never laughed quite so much on a shoot. These two can barely look at each other without smiling - beautiful, natural smiles that just say 'we are sooooo in love & can't wait to be married!' And we can't wait to be part of their epic 4-day wedding celebration! Some of our fav images from their engagement session.

In Stanley Park a few hours before sunset. Ahh, lovely light.

See? Great smiles.

And lots of laughs.

Sandy, beautiful bride to be.

Sandy, rocking her inner super-model in her Marciano dress & to-die-for Marciano heels (hmm...do you think I could shoot a wedding in those? I covet them!).

Wow - must be something magic in those blueberries on Sandy's family farm.

Love this set.

And rockin the radio-poppers to add a little drama at the end of the night.

Congrats, Sonny+Sandy!

Brooke+Steven=Luminous

From the first time I chatted on the phone with Brooke about her wedding, I knew it was going to a day filled with fun & laughter. I could feel her smile all the way from New Jersey to Vancouver! When she told me she and her fiance Steven were a wedding photographer couple just like us, I knew we had a connection (and when we found out Steven shot a certain Jersey rock star we happen to like a little, we knew we had to meet them)! When we finally did, their connection was tangible - they light up around each other & sparks fly!

It's always an honour to document the day of fellow photographers - here's what we saw.

Pink & orange! Love all of Brooke's colour-coordinated details - especially her divine fuchsia-bowed Kate Spade shoes & citrus Michael Kors rain boots!

Brooke has the best, light-up-your day smile!

And despite the rain, that smile was on full wattage all day.

Beautiful glowing bride.

Steven & Brooke's First Look ~ full of laughter...

...and love.

Brooke gets her sexy on & her silly on while we shoot some quick portraits before the ceremony.

Chris tries out Steven's smile-inducing technique of making farm animal sounds during formals on the guys - it works (but only in Jersey!).

Major rainstorms pushed us indoors to the Westmount Country Club where it was nice and cozy.

Ceremony time.

Drama,

laughter,

and more pink & orange!

Married!

More vibrant details at the reception, including a view camera surrounded by pink & orange florals -wow!

The very fabulous cake, topped with two cameras - wait, are those Canon or Nikon? ;)

First dance.

The evening was filled with emotional speeches and lots of laughter.

And lots of celebrating - the band got everyone out on the dance floor

Near the end of the evening, we snuck the couple out to get some late-night portraits. Love these two of Brooke on the bar. Quick, Bobby's coming!

Congrats, Brooke + Steven! Can't wait to see you again & meet the parrots!

Candace+Nick=Destiny

Candace & Nick have known each other ever since they were young - as little kids, they actually sat on either end of the same front row in their preschool picture! Clearly, it was meant to be!

Though their lives took them different directions as they grew up, they always found their way back to each other - first as friends, and then as much more. A volcano-top proposal in the Hawaiian Islands sealed the deal & we can not wait to photograph their fabulous wedding this summer!

These guys were our first engagement session here at home this season - how lucky are we to kick off spring 09 with a chic urban couple who are total naturals in front of the camera (and did I mention Candace brought three pairs of shoes including purple high heels- oh yeah!) ?! We had a blast re-exploring Vancouver after several weeks of shooting out-of-town.

Of course, spring in our hometown means cherry blossoms!

A classic portrait for mom & dad is always nice.

Though we prefer laugh-out-loud moments like this :)

We checked out some of the newer areas around the city.

But it got cold - fast - so we ducked into a parking garage to warm up & play with our radio-poppers (which are now shipping to Canada!).

Outside at twilight for a few more quick shots - loving the lines in this one :)

And then went into the Opus Hotel again to warm up again. And things got pretty hot!

Congratulations Candace + Nick!

Sondra+Danny=Faith Part III

There was so much joy and love on this day - it was such a privilege to document it for Sondra & Danny and their wonderful families!

Danny & his car.

Danny & his boys.

Mom and Dad helping Sondra with her veil - I just love the emotion between them.

Classic now, classic forever.

Sondra's bridesmaids were so excited for her.

This colour combination is so elegant.

Danny & Sondra saw each other in their wedding outfits during their YOU+ME Session, but they were just excited to see each other on the day they would officially become husband and wife. Sondra carried a parasol with the initial of her new surname on it - so perfect!

Danny surprised Sondra with a song during the ceremony. Not a dry eye in the audience - it was simply beautiful.

A wind-blown first kiss between husband and wife!

Every detail was selected with thought & love. In Sondra's bouquet is a piece of ivy grown & nurtured from her mother's own wedding bouquet.

The reception speeches were filled with song and smiles.

We snuck Sondra out quickly at the end of the night to do one last portrait.

And Danny too. He just couldn't stop smiling the entire night!

Congratulations!

Sondra+Danny Part II

It was so much fun photographing Sondra & Danny's pre-wedding YOU+ME session at the beautiful Sanctuary Resort on Camelback Mountain in Paradise Valley. Their happiness & love for each other shone through from First Look to sunset!

Wedding coming up soon!

Sondra+Danny=Faith

Steadfast. Unshakable. True. That is the faith Sondra & Danny have in each other, in their shared beliefs, in the power of their love & the promise of their future together.

And it was so inspiring to share in it and document their connection during their San Diego engagement session, their Scottsdale YOU+ME bride & groom session, and their beautiful wedding day at Phoenix's Villa Siena.

Here are some of our favorites from their engagement session.

A little sassy.

A lot romantic.

Balboa Park is a dream to photograph at. Here's a few spreads from their Guest Book.

Then it was off to the beach! California boy Danny proposed to small-town BC (Lillooet, to be exact!) girl Sondra on the sand in the sunshine so of course we had to go down to the ocean!

Tilt-shift loveliness.

Palm trees - the perfect frame. :)

Another of our fav Guest Book spreads with lots of open space above and below the images for guests to write their good wishes & tell these two how hot they look!

A fun couple plus that soft magic hour California light - can't beat that combo!

We had such a great time capturing their totally-connected-togetherness in San Diego. And it was just the beginning! Here's a sneak peek from Part II:

And Part III:

Check back soon to see images from their YOU+ME session and perfectly beautiful wedding day.

Ivy+Robert=Devotion

Together, they share a passion: for red wine & filet mignon, for good music (especially Robert's own bootleg mixes), for their favourite corners of the city they love, and, of course, for each other's company. When they're together, Ivy's whole face lights up as she describes their first dates & how quickly she fell head over heels for Robert; he hangs on to every word. They are completely devoted to each other and on their wedding day in NYC, they devoted themselves to enjoying every moment of it fully & completely!

It all started in NYC's storied Plaza Hotel

Fresh espresso and red-soled Louboutins makes Lynn a happy photographer:)

Ivy is one of the most energetic, fun, exuberant people I know so I could tell she was just a teensy bit nervous from how quiet she was while getting ready.

A little nervous and a lot beautiful.

Heading out for the First Look. Something about this image just says classic to me.

Surrounded by a crowd of oohing & ahhing onlookers, Robert saw his bride for the first time at Grand Central Station.

The fabulous New York photographer (and our awesome friend!) Jason Groupp captured this great moment.

Then it was a quick jaunt out on the town for a few portraits. A little rain? Bring it on - we are from Vancouver, after all :) I love this sequence at the library.

A little shelter & a little snuggling to keep warm.

Some cityscapes.

It's not a NYC wedding without some time at Central Park. The wedding party braved the cold with big smiles.

Vibrant florals.

Ivy & Robert love Central Park & did a YOU+ME Session there with us prior to their wedding. Here are just a few of our favs.

Their YOU+ME images all looked great at the couple's ceremony & reception site, whether they were in their custom Guest Book or displayed as giant prints like this one was at the entrance:

Ceremony time! And introducing the the happiest guy in the world...

I always love this moment in the ceremony.

We do.

Beautiful, happy night!

Glorious colour in the decor & lighting.

First dance.

And much more dancing throughout the night!

Congratulations, Ivy & Robert! We can't wait to see you again!

Mariza+Charlie=Intimate

When we first met Seattle couple Mariza & Charlie, we felt an instant connection. Like us, they had loved each other for many years before they decided to get married. Their love is coupled with the kind of deep understanding of each other that only comes with time, the kind that makes them exchange secret glances, say exactly what the other is thinking, and get teary-eyed about all the same things.

It was such a pleasure to photograph their small, elegant wedding. Here are some of our favourite images from the day.

The smallest details tell such interesting stories...Mariza's ring is on the bible her great-grandparents had with them when they were married in 1895.

A classically beautiful Vera Wang gown.

And the classic beauty, Mariza.

Serene before her First Look with Charlie. I love how at all that creamy tilt-shift loveliness puts all the attention on Mariza's beautiful eyes.

As the rain began, an emotional First Look between bride & groom.

Can't resist one more of Mariza.

Cold and rainy in Whistler that day, we explored their reception venue, the Four Seasons, and found all sorts of nooks and crannies to create some dramatic portraits.

My fav - that old hollywood glamour feel.

Details from the ceremony on the rooftop of the Fairmont Chateau Whistler.

The cutest and very-serious-about-his-job ringbearer.

Such a great location for a small wedding!

It's official!

The Four Seasons is known for its fine cuisine and at Mariza & Charlie's reception, guests went from room to room to enjoy different courses.

A seafood buffet in the bathtub!

A private first dance at the end of the night...

..before saying goodnight.

Congratulations Mariza & Charlie - it was such a joy to share your day with you both!

Shannon+Barney=Radiant

Looking through this Shannon & Barney's images just makes me smile. I see a sequence of beautifully shared moments between two people who truly make each other beam with delight! The Seattle couple's days was simple & elegant and they, and everyone around them, just glowed with happiness at their love.

A few getting ready details.

Loving this dress shot by our awesome friend from Cali, photographer Colin Michael (thanks for being there, Colin!)

The groom.

And the bride.

One more of the beautiful Shannon.

First Look at Queen Anne Hill.

St James Cathedral is such a beautiful church.

I love how Chris framed this stolen moment during the ceremony between the church pillars.

Married!

Party time! The guests (including the lovely Billy+Robyn) rip up the dance floor, the guys go for the garter, and the ladies fight over the bouquet :)

First Dance~romantic & radiant.

The father & daughter dance always turns me to mush - it's just such a emotional part of the evening. The love in this pair of images makes them my favourite.

A little romance by the fireplace to end the night. Congratulations Shannon+Barney!
