We love shooting in Mexico, and we love exploring new venues. So we were super-excited to discover what must be one of the most romantic boutique hotels in Baja, just a few minutes down the road from us! Our neighbors, and good friends Jessica & Mateo, designed, decorated, and run Villa Santa Cruz, a one-of-a-kind Todos Santos Hotel.

Imagine driving down a dusty dirt road, past acres of palm groves, deserted ranches, ancient cacti, and the odd cow, only to come to a golden hacienda set right on the beach. Guests convinced they must have been lost, must feel like Alice did when she fell down the rabbit hole and discovered a wonderland when they arive at this beautiful private villa!

Private and peaceful, and just over an hour away from the crowds of Cabo, Villa Santa Cruz is the ideal setting for an intimate destination wedding. And with its authentic Mexican details and vintage vibe (complete with a retro VW beach buggy!), it was a perfect backdrop for our YOU+ME wedding inspiration session with San Diego couple Dale+Mai. Could a couple be any more fun-loving & genuine? The connection between them was tangible - we loved photographing them!

Inside this boutique hotel on the beach, there are all kinds of vintage details, from antique brass door knockers to authentic mexican shot glasses for Villa Santa Cruz's own signature tequila.

Fields of agave+mountains+turquoise VW? LOVE!

A family of friendly dogs are part of the fun at Villa Santa Cruz.

Though they've been together for ages, it's like they still have a school-yard crush on each other - they giggle when they look at each other, they blush at each other's compliments, they squeeze hands surreptitiously beneath the table. Their wedding was full of sweetness and light, and it was such a pleasure to photograph it.

Cynthia+Derek! They're like a super-couple - always impeccably dressed, never flustered, know the whereabouts of every Iron Chef in the world at any given moment, and hike Machu Picchu in their spare time when they're not creating alternative energy sources for impoverished communities. Yes, they work hard, play hard, and love hard.

We've been fortunate to know them for over three years now even since Cynthia's bridesmaid Louise got married to Ben. And we'd already done two fun YOU+ME shoots with them - so we were super-psyched join them & all their friends in Old San Juan for their Puerto Rico destination wedding. They had a great group of wedding professionals who helped make it an amazing day including Puerto Rico event planner Myrna Serrano, florals by Festivo , cake by Lourdes Padilla, and imported from Vancouver, our favourite Vancouver makeup artist Nadia Albano and my sister Vancouver wedding videographer Laura Ann Cinema (check out her highlight reel from Derek+Cynthia's day!).

"Completely at peace." That's what Karen said to me when I asked her how she felt a few minutes before she was about to see her husband-to-be at their First Look. After all the planning and travel (and let's admit it, a little stress!) involved in organizing a destination wedding at Cabo Azul Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico, Graham & Karen practically floated through their day, happy, calm, and united.

Although I had never met Graham, and only had a brief conversation with Karen over a year ago, I felt like I knew both of them from being a faithful reader of Karen's blog http://torontogirlwest.com. I knew that Karen takes great pictures of food (especially sushi), that she met her goal of running her half-marathon in Long Beach less than a month before her wedding, that she & Graham LOVE to travel, and that they have the cutest little puppy named Daisy. So it was a privilege to be there to document the transformation of Graham - the person Karen's readers know as "~~The Boy"~~ and "~~The Fiancé~~" - to "The Husband"!

New locations are always inspiring to us, even more so when we're also working with a beautiful couple like Jessica+Richard. While we've been fortunate to photograph destination weddings in over 20 countries, this was our first in one of Canada's (and our!) favourite holiday spots: Banff, Alberta! The area's natural beauty combined with the drama of the iconic Banff Springs Hotel made the perfect backdrop for Jessica+Richard's classic wedding. Some of our favourites from their day.

Transported by trailer from Vancouver, this mint condition 1930's era Lincoln convertible from Richard's father's car collection added an element of elegance (and a lot of oohs & ahhs and requests for pictures from hotel & wedding guests alike!).

The smoke outdoors meant we explored the nooks and crannies of the hotel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is over a century old. LOVE the old-world feel of this venue!

The smoke finally cleared so we had some time for more portraits outside.

Love Jessica's "something blue" - her toenails and special anklet given to her by her maid of honor Laura (who happens to be an awesome wedding photographer herself!)

Then it was into the woods,

Back at the Banff Springs, fabulous wedding designer Amira of Posh Productions, had arranged everything perfectly! Cream, white, & gold is such a lovely color scheme - guaranteed never to go out of style.

Horseback riding, a sand storm, mucho tequila, and birthday celebrations with great new friends - Ashley & Jason's Los Cabos engagement session is so full of fun memories for us.

Though we'd been in email contact with them for almost a year about their big Indian wedding in Vancouver, we didn't meet Ashley &Jason in person until they decided to make a stop in Cabo en route from their trip to Africa to do their YOU+ME engagement session. Jason told us he was watching for us from the balcony when we walked up, and was relieved to see we "looked normal - not like some weirdo photographers" Whew! :) We were thrilled to find out that not only were they super-stylin' food & travel connoisseurs who were up for anything, they were also completely down-to-earth & real.

It was a lot less comfortable on these horses - well, for me! Ashley & Jason looked totally romantic on their rides in the surf and sand.

My favorite set - simple lines & hot pink!

We cooled down with some homemade icecream in San Jose and the first of many margaritas.

Boat ride to an island beach to enjoy the sunset - no, scratch that, a sandstorm! Lots of wind meant Ashley & Jason were forced to snuggle up against the rocks.

After a chilly boat ride back, we celebrated Ashley & Jason's engagement and Chris' birthday at an Argentinian BBQ restaurant with rock'n roll, blood sausages, and a long-haired waiter who liked to philosophize on love & ply us with tequila. Luckily, there's no incriminating photos of the party that ensued :)

It was in the way they were both so nervous while getting ready. The way Letitia held her breath as she came out of the elevator to see Anthony for the first time. They way Anthony held her face so delicately. And the way both of them kept looking at each other like they couldn't believe this day was finally here. As Chris whispered to me during the ceremony, "Wow, these guys are really into each other. I mean really." It's always a pleasure to photograph a couple who are so emotionally connected - here are some of our favs from the day.

There's nothing we love more than a YOU+ME session. Except a YOU+ME session that includes shooting after dark. At a new location as exciting as Capella Pedregal. With a bride wearing a long veil on a windy night.

We had never been to Capella Pedregal resort before, but Robert told us we would love it. He was so right. We were only there for an hour or so but fell in love with the architecture, landscaping, and all the textures and design details. It was the perfect place to create some portraits of the wonderful, happily married, Shaliz+Robert. Some of our favourites:

After packing it away for months, Chris dug out his tilt-shift lens again for these portraits of Shaliz. I couldn't choose - like them both!

The resort was even more romantic once the sun went down and all the lanterns went on.

Hot day (90+ degrees in Chicago - whew!), hot pink, and a super-hot couple - what more could we ask for during our first windy city destination wedding? Well, how about a bride who couldn't stop smiling, a groom who couldn't stop gazing at his new wife, and a couple who couldn't hide their excitement to finally be together if they tried!

And no wonder - Garrett, a pro hockey player originally from LA, and Lynne, a sports therapist born in Ottawa, are always on the road for work and rarely in the same city together. Over the past year, these two had the adventure of a cross-country relationship not to mention also organizing a wedding! They chose Chicago because it is one of their favorite cities, the place they got engaged, and also conveniently located somewhere in between their two hometowns.

Despite the long distance planning, the day went off without a hitch with the collaboration of a great group of vendors including the planning team of Lola Event Productions, florals by Botanicals Chicago, videography by Laura Ann Cinema, and everyone at The Wit Hotel.

Erin+Luke=True Hearts

Engagement sessions are always a lot of fun. But this one was extra-special because I've known Erin since forever! She was a just a kid writing stories & avoiding homework in my classroom (in my former life as a teacher), and it was not too long ago that Chris & I photographed her ME! Session for her high school graduation! Though all the years I've known her, she's always had a love of adventure, an amazing spirit, and the best most contagious laugh I've ever heard! But it was still a big surprise when I got her email telling me she had fallen in love. Hard. With a handsome Australian. Named Luke. Who had proposed!

Really happy. Really, really in love. And really, truly in the moment. Throughout their wedding day, Jill and Mourad were all taking in every second of their once-in-a-lifetime experience in Cabo San Lucas. They didn't worry about the schedule being a bit behind, a little mixup with the flowers, or some stubborn sequins that refused to stick; instead, they simply went with the flow and found joy in every moment, in all their guests, and in each other.

We had such an amazing time with them throughout the day and night so forgive me in advance for the major overuse of exclamation points in this blog post of some of our favourites from their day at Melia Cabo Real!

Derek and Rebecca have such a love of life and adventure, and of course, each other! The couple went to school in Vancouver, now live in Hong Kong, and have travelled the globe together. For their destination wedding, they chose beautiful, mesmerizing Bali. It was Chris & my first trip to Indonesia, and we fell in love with the place & its people. And what a setting for a wedding at the the Bvlgari Resort in Bali!

I adore Rebecca's Vera Wang gown - so truly elegant yet also light, airy, beachy, and washable. Yes, I said washable! After frolicking in the sand, Rebecca just rinsed out her dress in the bathtub & hung it to dry before rocking it in the rain the next day during the couple's rain-sodden YOU+ME session (check back soon for those images!).

Jason & May, Canadians currently living in Australia, were joined by their far-flung friends & family to celebrate their wedding on the tropical island of Bahamas. The couple are no strangers to travel - their long-distance courtship meant adventures in cities around the world. And now they head out on the best journey of all - marriage!

San Francisco couple Shaliz & Robert are having their dream destination wedding in a few months at the luxurious Esperanza Resort in Cabo San Lucas. We are so looking forward to their day, and to working with fabulous event coordinator Jenny of Baja Weddings.

A few weeks ago we met the couple in Cabo for their YOU+ME engagement session. Since we'll be staying exclusively at the resort on their wedding day, we wanted to capture the some of the spirit of Cabo during their shoot - and we had a blast!

We started off at a tiny little restaurant outside of town...with some pink grapefruit & mexican tequila! Chris decided on the spot that starting off engagement sessions with tequila shall henceforth be regular procedure :)

And a lot of laughing! Shaliz has the most beautiful smile.

The vibrant colours in Los Cabos are a photographer's dream.

I love a bride who wears her red-soled Louboutins in the dusty mexican streets!

Back in Cabo San Lucas, we couldn't resist this red wall.

Robert rented a panga so we could head out to El Arco, Cabo's famous natural rock arch - it is beautiful!

These two are so in love - I love capturing moments like these!

We arrived on Lover's Beach to perfect, gorgeous, golden light. And had fun playing on the beach, and getting a little (okay, a lot!) wet.

Alexandra+Bernard=Extraordinary! | Switzerland Destination Wedding

Switzerland Destination Wedding

When we met Alexandra & Bernard face to face for the first time in their hotel room in Switzerland, they told us that once they decided they were going to have a destination wedding, they were determined to make it "something extraordinary!". And indeed it was! From their YOU+ME session in the Bernese Alps via helicopter ride, to their vow exchange in an eight-hundred-year -old castle, to their reception at the fabled Victoria Jungfrau Hotel, their wedding was one grand adventure!

Alexandra was so happy! And beautiful.

The couple wanted their images to capture the spirit of Switzerland - and what better way to do that then head into the Alps? This was the view from the helicopter; so incredible that this weather station is built at 3571 metres (11,782 feet!).

-18.3 degrees Celsius, but Alexandra & Bernard didn't mind. They were literally on top of the world :)

Inside to warm up & then another dizzying & exhilarating ride back.

Switzerland was everything we thought it would be and more. And yes, there really are cows just roaming around the city centre. Although they aren't all friendly - the one below took a dislike to Chris & charged him (which, I have to admit was kindof hilarious)!

Even down from the mountains, it was extra frosty outside. Alexandra wore a very special vintage fur coat - it was given to her by Bernard's late mother.

And Bernard kept her warm too.

And kept her laughing, even when her fingers were getting numb!

Their ceremony took place in Thun Castle, which was built in 1195 by Duke Berchtold V of Zähringen.

Just like the fortunes she found in her cookies predicted, Ildiko is enjoying her dream of being an actress and found her happily ever after with the boy next door (well, a few houses away!). She reread those slips of paper as she got ready for her wedding day, and with tears in her yes, told her girls she couldn't believe that today all her dreams were coming true. Two floors down, as he did up his tie and took a swig from his flask, Gary said the exact same thing.

The couple's wedding, currently featured in this season's gorgeous issue of Wedluxe Magazine, was luxurious, glamourous, and fun - just like Ildiko & Gary! Here are some of our favs from the day

The ceremony took place at Harrison Hot Springs Resort - such a gorgeous location. Kim & Andy of Wedding Design Studio made everything look perfectly romantic in golds, whites, and reds.

How can you not look at the last image in that sequence & smile?! That emotion, that moment, that realization of 'we did it!' - it's what love is all about!

The reception was all about old Hollywood glamour, starting with the red carpet entrance for Ildiko & Gary's guests, each of whom had gold VIP cards. The fabulous Gracci & Rico photographed them paparazzi-style as they entered - tons of fun!

Wedding planner Sarah of DreamGroup, helped bring Ildiko's wedding vision to life! Ildiko wanted a Old Hollywood glamour feel to her wedding complete with including celebrity impersonator appearances by Frank Sinatra & Dean Martin who flew in from Vegas to perform for the guests.

We love doing weddings with Sarah at the helm. And Ildiko & Gary's team was especially fun, because we also got to work with videographer Laura of Laura Ann Cinema. Check out the her highlight reel for I+G on her blog.

Frank & Dean weren't the only entertainers during the reception - Ildiko's bridesmaid sang for the couple, leaving everyone teary-eyed.

Tears & cheers were also the reaction to the couple's first dance. Congratulations, Ildiko & Gary!

Isn't it funny how life works out? Lola and Cam's families had been connected for years - their grandmothers sat beside each other at church - but the couple themselves had never actually connected. It took a large family gathering neither Lola or Cam really wanted to attend for their paths to finally cross. And Lola almost didn't go! But she did. And they met. And it was the beginning of forever.

Their happiness with each other on their wedding day was almost surpassed by the happiness of their families - their small intimate wedding was simply overflowing with love. Here are some of our favs from their day at the Opus Hotel and Brix.

Jam-packed full of action, events, colour, traditions, laughter, and of course, Sandy & Sonny's uncontainable LOVE, the couple's wedding was amazing! With a thousand guests and activities stretching over four days, we had the whole C+L team out in full force, including our fabulous associate Sarah, our intrepid assistant Garrett, the always-chill TJ, and led by the inimitable Colin. Thanks, guys!

Sandy & Sonny's big, beautiful album has over a 100 pages so it was super-hard to choose which images to share, but here are just a few of our favourites.

True. To each other. And to themselves as a couple. Brooklynn & Cory have a love so genuine & real, not even the wettest storm in Kelowna's history (truly- a recordbreaking 34mm of rain fell on their wedding day!) could dampen their spirits! From the moment they saw each other, they couldn't stop smiling.

The couple love the outdoors and Cory proposed to Brooklynn while they were out camping, so they were determined to endure, or perhaps embrace would be the better word, the soaking wet weather no matter what!

She may be an outdoorsy girl at heart, but Brooklynn has got style. Her gorgeous gown & shoes.

We thought they'd want to dry off, but after their First Look, Brooklynn & Cory hopped the fence & we all hiked up the hill for some portraits.

Then it was off to the lake. Brooklynn's fabulous family friend/interior designer/wedding planner/style guru/mud-stickiness-tester, the amazing Tara of Red Crayon Design helping the couple down to the water.

The rain finally let up when we got to Brooklynn's summer home for the ceremony. Guests were invited to kick off their shoes, put on their flipflops, and grabs some lemonade before making their way down to the backyard & the dock.

Candace+Nick=Destiny

It was clear from when we first met Candace & Nick that they were meant to be together! And their connection felt even stronger on their wedding day. Nick was the consummate gentleman, attentive to and delighting in his bride's every need. And the expression in her eyes each time Candace looked at her new husband was one of pure love.

Perfectly planned by the fabulous Sarah at DreamGroup with a reception at the always-lovely Sutton Place Hotel, the day started off great with a pair of pink, fluffy, Louboutins.

Schiffon+Dennis=Irie!

"Don't Worry, Be Happy!" is the mantra in Jamaica, and after a whirlwind adventure that included cancelled flights, swine flu scares, and a literally-last-minute switch of wedding location from Mexico to Jamaica, Schiffon and Dennis finally enjoyed their beautiful day - happily and worry-free.

In fact, they were the most relaxed bride & groom I've ever seen! The couple embodied "IRIE" - Jamaican for being at total peace & harmony with the world. The strength of their love and the love of their friends and family who had to overcome so much to be with them on their wedding was tangible throughout the day. And what a great day it was!

First, the details - simple, fresh and fun.

When it was looking all but impossible for Canadian guests to get to Mexico, I remember Schiffon's father saying that he would be there for her no matter what, "Nothing can stop me!" he told me on the phone while we tried to figure out travel itineraries. It was so wonderful to see him walk his daughter down the aisle.

Becky+Noah=Epic!

This blog post is about the love story of Noah & Becky on the day they vowed to be together forever on the island of Kauai. It was a perfectly beautiful, light-bathed, emotion-filled, love-blessed wedding day...and it was a dream for us to photograph!

Noah and Becky planned everything just right, which is why this blog post could also be a little helpful hint guide on how to make your wedding day totally ROCK!

Tip #1: choose a great location to get ready. Kauai photographer & ultimate host (thanks for having us, D+S!) Dianne Reynolds, generously shared her gorgeous plantation-style home with the couple. That meant Becky and her bridesmaids (all twelve of them!) had lots of room to primp & prep & prettify together and we had lots of options of where to photograph all her details.

Tip #2: No rushing! Leave yourself lots of time to get ready so you can be as calm, serene, and beautiful as Becky was the morning of the big day. And have some time for bridal portraits.

What a smile! She's so excited to see her future husband!

Or you could use that extra getting ready time to work out - like Noah :) The guys got ready just a few minutes away from the girls, making it super-easy to shoot everyone in the morning.

Hot groom alert!

Tip #3: consider having a First Look. The moment the bride & groom see each other is always special whether it's at the altar or not, but having a First Look is always so meaningful. It allowed Becky & Noah to have a private confirmation of their love together before the public celebration at the ceremony. And it also means more time for photos together before the wedding which means more time for fun with the guests right after!

The joy of the moment!

Tip #4: bring your own sun-swatter. Just kidding! But I had to find a way to include this shot of Noah using California Sunbounce's great diffuser (btw, they are lightweight & easy-to-use).

But lighting and weather are things to consider - you can't control them but you can be prepared: parasols for shade if it's sunny, umbrellas for showers, and a nice hotel room for downpours. And if having an outside ceremony, maybe bump it to later in the day when the light is soft & flattering.

Luckily, Noah ordered up a perfect weather day for his wedding.

Tip #5: choose amazing friends & family to be in your wedding party! Ones who are super-helpful, super-fun, super-happy for you & who don't complain even if they have to balance on a rickety fence for a photo!

Tip #6: allocate time for photography. It's one of the biggest investments in the wedding as well as the only thing from the day that lasts forever! So allow for lots of time so we can go to all the cool locations we want to shoot at! If the day is super-busy, consider having a YOU+ME session on another day.

Noah grew up on Kauai & now the beautiful island is California girl Becky's home as well, so we really wanted to create images with a strong sense of place.

And the most important tip of all: Live your wedding day fully & completely!

When we talked to Noah the day before the wedding, he, like most grooms was a little nervous and a little stressed about the seating arrangement, decor, lighting, and parking logistics...But come morning, all that was forgotten.

Noah and Becky experienced every moment of their day with hearts wide open.

Their ceremony, personalized and performed by Becky's father, was filled with laughter and joy.

I just like how Chris framed this image.

Classic family portraits never go out of style (especially with this kind of scenery).

The couple's reception was simple and fun. First Dance.

Becky & Noah's fathers had everyone's attention with their heartfelt song & speeches.

Noah's sister, surfer extraordinaire Bethany Hamilton, beats out all the ladies for the bouquet. Becky directed the award-winning documentary Heart of a Soul Surfer that tells the incredibly inspiring story of her new sister-in-law Bethany.

Sonny+Sandy=Superlative!

Super-fun, super-styling, super-sweet, super-hot ~ there simply aren't enough adjectives to describe how great Sonny & Sandy are together! Their positive energy is completely contagious & in addition to all the above, they are totally hilarious; I'm pretty sure we've never laughed quite so much on a shoot. These two can barely look at each other without smiling - beautiful, natural smiles that just say 'we are sooooo in love & can't wait to be married!' And we can't wait to be part of their epic 4-day wedding celebration! Some of our fav images from their engagement session.

Brooke+Steven=Luminous

From the first time I chatted on the phone with Brooke about her wedding, I knew it was going to a day filled with fun & laughter. I could feel her smile all the way from New Jersey to Vancouver! When she told me she and her fiance Steven were a wedding photographer couple just like us, I knew we had a connection (and when we found out Steven shot a certain Jersey rock star we happen to like a little, we knew we had to meet them)! When we finally did, their connection was tangible - they light up around each other & sparks fly!

It's always an honour to document the day of fellow photographers - here's what we saw.

Candace+Nick=Destiny

Candace & Nick have known each other ever since they were young - as little kids, they actually sat on either end of the same front row in their preschool picture! Clearly, it was meant to be!

Though their lives took them different directions as they grew up, they always found their way back to each other - first as friends, and then as much more. A volcano-top proposal in the Hawaiian Islands sealed the deal & we can not wait to photograph their fabulous wedding this summer!

These guys were our first engagement session here at home this season - how lucky are we to kick off spring 09 with a chic urban couple who are total naturals in front of the camera (and did I mention Candace brought three pairs of shoes including purple high heels- oh yeah!) ?! We had a blast re-exploring Vancouver after several weeks of shooting out-of-town.

Of course, spring in our hometown means cherry blossoms!

A classic portrait for mom & dad is always nice.

Though we prefer laugh-out-loud moments like this :)

We checked out some of the newer areas around the city.

But it got cold - fast - so we ducked into a parking garage to warm up & play with our radio-poppers (which are now shipping to Canada!).

And then went into the Opus Hotel again to warm up again. And things got pretty hot!

Sondra+Danny=Faith Part III

There was so much joy and love on this day - it was such a privilege to document it for Sondra & Danny and their wonderful families!

Classic now, classic forever.

Sondra's bridesmaids were so excited for her.

This colour combination is so elegant.

Danny & Sondra saw each other in their wedding outfits during their YOU+ME Session, but they were just excited to see each other on the day they would officially become husband and wife. Sondra carried a parasol with the initial of her new surname on it - so perfect!

Danny surprised Sondra with a song during the ceremony. Not a dry eye in the audience - it was simply beautiful.

A wind-blown first kiss between husband and wife!

Every detail was selected with thought & love. In Sondra's bouquet is a piece of ivy grown & nurtured from her mother's own wedding bouquet.

The reception speeches were filled with song and smiles.

We snuck Sondra out quickly at the end of the night to do one last portrait.

And Danny too. He just couldn't stop smiling the entire night!

Ivy+Robert=Devotion

Together, they share a passion: for red wine & filet mignon, for good music (especially Robert's own bootleg mixes), for their favourite corners of the city they love, and, of course, for each other's company. When they're together, Ivy's whole face lights up as she describes their first dates & how quickly she fell head over heels for Robert; he hangs on to every word. They are completely devoted to each other and on their wedding day in NYC, they devoted themselves to enjoying every moment of it fully & completely!

Ivy is one of the most energetic, fun, exuberant people I know so I could tell she was just a teensy bit nervous from how quiet she was while getting ready.

Mariza+Charlie=Intimate

When we first met Seattle couple Mariza & Charlie, we felt an instant connection. Like us, they had loved each other for many years before they decided to get married. Their love is coupled with the kind of deep understanding of each other that only comes with time, the kind that makes them exchange secret glances, say exactly what the other is thinking, and get teary-eyed about all the same things.

It was such a pleasure to photograph their small, elegant wedding. Here are some of our favourite images from the day.

The smallest details tell such interesting stories...Mariza's ring is on the bible her great-grandparents had with them when they were married in 1895.

I think it was Lance Armstrong who said "If you ever get a second chance in life for something, you've got to go all the way." Well, that's exactly what Paulo did when he got the opportunity to meet up with Annie again - a girl he just couldn't get out of his head, even though they hadn't seen each other in ages & the timing wasn't quite right when they originally met.

But the second time around, they made it happen. And on their wedding, their timing was perfect!

It was such a pleasure to spend the day with the Warren & Laurie. Sophisticated and urbane, this couple is one class act. They are so perfectly matched - when they are together, they just radiate a love that is so strong, so calm, and so serene.

As sweet as a cherry - that is the delicious-sugary-goodness that is Chery & John's love. These two were so giggly and flirty with each other all day! It was so much fun to spend their day with them.

It began at Hotel Vancouver where Chery got ready for parts one & two of her day - allowing John into her suite and then heading out for some city shots.

Sarah+James=Genuine

Genuine. That is the word that comes to me when I think of Sarah and James. The way the listen to each other. The way they look at each other. The real and deep connection that comes from years of truly knowing & understanding each other.

Their day started with a First Look on the beach pier. The handsome James waited patiently to see Sarah & give her her bouquet.

I always love these moments between about-to-be-husband and about-to-be-wife.

We got to hang with the always-awesome-photog Tim who grabbed this shot of me playing it safe balancing on a log...

..while I was shooting my fav image of the day:

Sarah - what a natural beauty! She and James love the outdoors, so we headed into the forest for some portraits among the ferns and trees.

Then it was off to Hart House for the ceremony. Sarah and James shared a happy look of anticipation as they walked down the aisle together.

Lindsay+Larry=Drama!

Lindsay and Larry have such a romantic story! They fell in love on the stage while performing the Gilbert & Sullivan comic opera The Mikado! Their wedding was all about their passion for singing and for each other and their day was full of dramatic moments.

It all started normally enough - playing in the light in the park, checking out the view of the ocean, hanging out by the seawall.

But then Laurie and Warren's stroll along the beach turned into a roll in the beach. And in the waves! Now we love photographing couples playing in the surf, but that kind of engagement action is normally limited to our destination sessions in tropical climates, not the chilly Pacific Northwest!

But once these two got a little wet...

Wow! What a wedding! Kris and Lauren's grand affair at Turnberry Isle in Aventura, Florida was an incredible production - literally! It was also the perfect first wedding for our new venture (a collaboration of Chris+Lynn & TimCo - more about that later!).

But with all the media, 600+ guests, and surprises (mid-ceremony thunderstorm, Cirque de Soleil performers, and end-of-the-night fireworks), this day was really about two incredible people and their intense, genuine love for each other.

Kris and Lauren met in high school and quickly become best friends. When Lauren was the victim of a crime, Kris was her confidant and biggest supporter. He was there for her as she overcame a family tragedy to become the vibrant, strong, passionate person & activist she is today. In turn, she is his most bubbly cheerleader as he pursues his career as a professional golfer. Together, their enthusiasm for life is utterly contagious to everyone around them!

When Lauren & I talked about photography, she told me that moments - real moments - were most important to her. Here are some of our favourites.

Amazing city & amazing couple! The laid-back, colourful city of New Orleans was the destination of choice for Lindsey and Andrew. And what a great location for a wedding - I think it's our new favourite city! Though it was incredibly warm (especially for Vancouverites like us!), we took it slow and easy through the hot summer streets and had a day to remember!
